Travelling to Agde
Flying
Ryanair has daily flights from Stansted to Montpellier (the nearest airport - 45 minutes), Nimes, Carcassonne and Perpignan. BA also flies to Montpellier in the summer. Easyjet, BMIBaby and Flybe operate to local airports.
Train
There is a Eurostar link from Waterloo to Lille/Paris and TGV to Montpellier/Agde/Beziers. Agde Station is in the centre of the town.
Car
If you come via Montpellier to the east or via Narbonne to the west the nearest motorway junction(A9-J34) is just 10 kilometres away. If you drive from Calais (1000 km) in the north via Paris, Clermont-Ferrand it is all motorway to within 20 kilometres of Agde.
To see this area to the fullest a car is recommended, but not essential. Collection service by arrangement to local airports and stations.
Coast/Beach
There are a choice of beaches all within a few kms of Agde. Grau d'Agde beach is the closest and has a cycle track from the villa. There is also a 8km stretch of golden sandy beach between Agde and Sete.
Local places of interest
The area is surrounded with places of interest to visit, medieval cities, lakes, mountains, vinyards, Cathar country and of course Spain, just a couple of hours drive away.
General details
Restaurants abound and a very good quality menu will cost around 14 euros per head. Plats du jour start at around 6 euros. Family activities are numerous during the season, horseriding, sailing and wind surfing, tennis, paragliding, naturist beaches, canoeing and boat hire and cruises on canal du midi which is just a short walk away. During the evening in the season the town of Agde provides open air concerts and strolling jazz bands, art exhibitions 'sous les arbres', traditional French markets and the most amazing firework displays. There is truly something for all ages and tastes.
