Agde, an ancient city with over 2500 years of history, nestling on the junction of the river Herault and the Canal du Midi, this historic seaport is only 4 km away from the beautiful golden sandy beaches of the Mediterranean. The beautiful cities of Montpellier, Nimes, Sete and Beziers are all within easy reach by car, train or bus.The medieval citadel of Carcassonne, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and Avignan the city of the Popes are just one hour away. Cap d' Agde a modern resort with Aqualand water park, nightclubs, naturist beaches and marinas with posh yachts is nearby. The Spanish border is 90 mins drive on the autoroute or by the breathtaking corniche route through Collioure. National parks, clean free flowing rivers, gorges, lakes, lagoons and mountains, nature reserves compete for your attention with the best beaches on France`s Med coastline. All at the centre of the worlds largest wine region famed for it`s seafood and cuisine. Rick Stein has let the cat out of the bag!

During the summer the town is bustling with entertainment. Art exhibitions, classical music in the Cathedral, strolling jazz bands, jousting on the river Herault and amazing firework displays. Guided walks thro the narrow cobbled streets of the old city. Restaurants are plentiful and varied - our favourites are mentioned in the information folder in the houses. Visit the Caveau in 5 rue Louis Blanc, Agde, for a wine tasting from Mas St Antoine. Three wine growers have combined their experience to create a range of fine wines. Debbie Portes will give you a 'guide' in English and a course of wine tasting.
